Today we would like to feature a video by young bassist Dominik Wagner, then 16 years of age, playing the third movement of Vahnal’s Concerto.  Read more about Dominik below, and visit his youtube channel for even more fantastic playing!

Dominik  was born 8.7.1997 in Vienna, Austria. In 2009 he began studies with Prof. Josef Niederhammer and Werner Fleischmann at the University of Music in Vienna. In addition to national competitions, he won the first prize at the International competition for young double bass players at the Gnesin Academy, Moscow in 2012. In 2013, he won the 3rd prize at the International Leos Janacek Competition, Brno, Czech Republik and the 1st prize and extra prize for the youngest participant at the International Golden Bass Competition, Lviv, Ukraine. As a soloist, he performes the concerts of Vanhal, Dittersdorf, Bottesini and Rota. 2014 he performed Bottesinis b minor concerto at the Gasteig in Munich and he premiered  Wolfram Wagners Ballade for Double bass and Orchestra at the Musikverein in Vienna. As a young bassist, he has also worked with with Petru Iuga, Christine Hoock, Bernhard Ziegler, Dorin Marc, Johannes Auersperg and Roman Patkolo.
