Hello Young Bassists!

In today’s email we’re talking about the last day of the convention – Saturday June 10. This is the big day for the Young Bassists program and we are front and center at the 1pm performance in Ford Hall.  Here is how that day will work:

8:30-10am  College Fair – please plan on attending this. Many colleges will be represented and their bass teachers/professors will be there to answer questions, talk about what makes their school unique, and give you ideas about the application and audition process.

10-11:45am  Dress Rehearsal  We will start with the Large Bass Orchestra in Ford Hall – you will know this hall very well by the time Saturday rolls around. All the headliners will be playing their evening concerts in here, and now it is OUR turn!  From there, we’ll break out into small groups for one last dress rehearsal with your coach. Those rooms will be very close to Ford Hall – directions will be given at the rehearsal. Last step before a quick lunch: set up your bass with your small group onstage – coaches will help us get this all arranged so we can quickly and safely move between small groups in the concert.

11:45-12:45 LUNCH – and change for the concert. Dress is your ISB t-shirt and pants (any color).

12:45 – arrive to Ford Hall, quietly tune you bass then gather in small groups off stage.

1pm – Young Bassists concert begins – small groups will open this program, then we will reset stage for the Large Bass Orchestra performance. Parents and friends should plan on coming to hear this awesome sound – all 60 of us making a mighty forest of tone!

Afterwards, the YB program is officially ended. There are many sessions and recitals still happening that day, so I encourage you to attend them if possible. And the Saturday night headliners will blow the roof off the hall!
