Spiderman at Eastman

Check it out, scenes from SpiderMan 2 were filmed recently in Rochester.
First SpiderMan, then comes SuperBass! This was taken right in front of the
Eastman Kodak Theater entrance!

Our Executive Director, Madeleine Crouch, has all the details for you when you arrive at Eastman.  You should already have received this in your email, but we thought we’d put it here for you…just in case.

SHUTTLE AND TAXI INFORMATION
There is no free shuttle service from the airport or train station to Eastman on-campus housing. There are several taxi services available.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to let the shuttle service or taxi company know if you will have your bass with you when they pick you up so they can send a van-style taxi. If you are traveling with your bass by plane, remember to check your trunk at the airport (click here). Ask the driver to take you to the Eastman Commons Student Living Center, 100 Gibbs Street, Rochester, NY 14605, which is across the street from the Eastman School of Music.

CHECKING INTO ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
If you are staying in Eastman on-campus housing you must have made prior reservations. You are receiving this email because we have an on-campus housing reservation for you. Check-in begins at 9 AM. Check-out is at 12 Noon. There is someone staffing the front desk 24 hours a day. If you arrive after 11 PM, there is a security phone you can pick up and ask the front desk staffer to let you in.

PARKING
If you are driving, see directions and parking at http://www.esm.rochester.edu/concerts/parking/.  There is a parking garage next to the Eastman East Wing marked “P” on the attached Eastman Map, $6 daily paid in advance to park for the day, no in and out privileges.

ON-CAMPUS DINING
The cafeteria in the Eastman Commons Student Living Center (across the street from the Eastman East Wing at 100 Gibbs St.) will be open for three meals a day beginning Sunday evening, June 2nd. If you purchased the week-long meal plan, it begins with Monday evening dinner and ends wth Saturday evening dinner. Pick up your meal plan punch card with your badge at the ISB convention desk. If you are not staying for the entire convention week, you can purchase individual meals (cash only, no credit cards) $8.50 for breakfast (7-9 AM), $10.50 for lunch (11 AM – 1:30 PM), and $11.50 for dinner (5:30-7:30 PM).

CHECKING IN FOR THE CONVENTION
The ISB convention desk will be located at the Eastman East Wing box office entrance off East Main St., open from 7:30 AM until 7 PM, Monday through Saturday. You’ll pick up your badge, program, convention bag and more there. YOU MUST WEAR YOUR BADGE AT ALL TIMES FOR ADMISSION TO CONVENTION EVENTS, especially evening concerts Tuesday through Saturday in the Kodak Theater.

BASS STORAGE OVERNIGHT AND DURING THE DAY
You can drop your bass off when you’re not using it in the Eastman Commons Student Living Center (the dorms) across the street from the Eastman School of Music. Go to the Directors Dining Room to drop off your bass. Check-in/check-out hours for bass storage during the day are 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Basses left after 7:3 PM will be stored in a locked room on the basement level. If you need to retrieve your bass after 7:30 PM or for an early morning departure, ask a front desk staffer at the residence hall to assist you. be ready to present the check tag you were given when you dropped your bass off.

RENTAL AND LOANER BASSES
Be sure to let us know if you need to borrow a bass for the competition only. CSC Products is making a few loaner basses available, and they are also our source for renting a bass for the competition and/or convention week. Your rental bass will be picked up from and returned to the ISB registration desk. To rent a bass, send an email to info@CSCproducts.com with the subject line “Need to rent a bass for the 2013 ISB Convention,” or visit their exhibit in Room 320.
